How is an AWB number built?

An air waybill number has 11 digits: the first 3 are the issuing airline’s prefix (its IATA accounting code), the next 8 are the serial number. The last digit of the serial is a check digit: the remainder of the 7 preceding digits divided by 7.

Example: for 057-12345675, 1,234,567 ÷ 7 leaves a remainder of 5. The check digit is valid.
